I was downloading photos from my camera to my laptop and after editing them, I moved some to an external hard drive. I then uploaded some to Ice Drive, but they deleted my accounts without any warning because I had multiple accounts on the same IP address. I need help recovering the photos from my laptop even though they were deleted after the upload. Is there any way to get them back?

You might want to explore data recovery software like Recuva or take your laptop to a data recovery shop. They might have better tools and skills to recover lost files.

Also, for the future, keep in mind the 3-2-1 rule: have three copies of your data, with two of them on different drives and one in the cloud. Using more reputable cloud services like Google Drive or iCloud over Ice Drive might give you better security and reliability.

First off, if you want to recover the deleted files, it's crucial to stop using the laptop right away. Every time your laptop is running, it’s continuously reading and writing data, which can overwrite your deleted files. If your laptop is on, you might want to shut it down immediately to maximize recovery chances.

For recovery, if the photos were on an external hard drive before uploading them to Ice Drive, you might get lucky trying to recover them from there first. If it’s an HDD, tools like Recuva are user-friendly and can be quite effective for basic recovery needs.

If you're looking to recover files directly from your laptop, it can get tricky. If the photos are really important, consider hiring a data recovery service. Otherwise, you could remove the SSD and connect it to another computer or boot your laptop using a USB drive with a different OS to try recovery without starting from the SSD itself.

This incident is a good learning experience; you can’t depend solely on cloud services like Ice Drive. It’s smart to have multiple backups spread across different types of storage. A lot of people trust OneDrive, but it’s good to be cautious and not put all your eggs in one basket.

That’s a pretty basic principle in data management. If you’re serious about your photos, diversify your storage options!
