How Can I Reinstall Bodhi Linux on an Old Compaq Laptop?

I'm trying to help a friend with their old Compaq laptop. The original issue was that the Wi-Fi wasn't working because there was no driver installed. When I tried to retrieve the Wi-Fi driver, it asked for the root password, which I can't remember. Now I want to reinstall Bodhi Linux using a USB drive to avoid the password issue. I've already prepared a USB with the ISO file, and it worked on another laptop. However, when I access the boot menu on the Compaq, the USB isn't showing up, even though it appears in the terminal when I type `lsusb`. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Sometimes, the BIOS may not recognize certain USB drives if they take too long to initialize. If you have another flash drive handy, I suggest giving that a shot. It could also be worth checking if the USB drive is formatted correctly!

That sounds like a solid idea! Also, if you can’t get the USB to work, you could copy the ISO file onto a CD and try installing Linux that way. Just ensure the CD is bootable!
