How can I remove a fake Google Maps listing for my business?

Hey folks! I've got a bit of an issue and I'm hoping for some guidance. Someone created a fake Google Maps listing that's really damaging to my business, dragging our reputation down with a low rating of 1.4 stars, while our real listing sits at 4.3 stars. It's definitely affecting our business performance. What's the quickest and most effective way to report this listing to Google and have it taken down? Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

If the fake listing is associated with an address that you control, you can request ownership of it. Google will mail a postcard to that address with a confirmation code. Once you verify it, you can make changes to the listing and potentially remove the fake one.

That sounds interesting! How exactly do I request ownership?

First off, you can report it directly to Google. Just search for the fake listing, click on 'Suggest an edit,' and choose 'Remove this place' then select 'Spam, fake, or offensive.' If the problem persists, you can submit a report through their support page.
