How can I remove my personal information from Google search results?

I've been searching for my name on Google and found a site featuring my personal details, including my home address. I tried to contact the site through their privacy policy, but when I emailed them, I received a message saying the email wasn't valid, and it never went through. I even reported it to the ICO, but they haven't responded yet. I've submitted three requests to Google to remove the page from search results, but they keep denying my requests, claiming there's not enough information even though it clearly exists. What should I do next?

I've heard that claiming to be a trans person with a deadname can get results fast from Google. It sounds a bit ridiculous, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's true.

I wouldn't doubt it either. Sometimes it seems like they take those claims more seriously.

You should definitely sign up for Google's removal service called 'Results About You.' Just know that it can feel like a game of 'whack-a-mole' since they can only remove the search results, not the actual data on the sites. Once you're in, you'll get alerts if new content about you pops up, and the removal process is super quick if you already have a Google account.

This might not be the most straightforward approach, but when reporting, try to claim it involves information about a minor. I’ve heard that it can prompt quicker action from them.

The problem is that people sell personal data, and there are even resellers, which leads to a lot of exposure due to breaches. That’s why many choose ongoing cleanup services instead of just a one-off fix.

Make sure to use the 'Results About You' tool with your Gmail address for monitoring. They'll alert you whenever something is found, and you can decide if you want it removed. It’s a pretty handy service!
