How Can I Stop Annoying Email Spam in Outlook?

I've been dealing with a ton of email spam in my Outlook account for the past 5 to 6 months, and it's really getting out of hand. I've tried setting up rules to block some of it, but it doesn't take long for new spam with different topics and bizarre domains to pop up. I'm looking for some advice on how to get this under control. I promise I haven't clicked on any suspicious links or visited any sketchy sites, but the spam ranges from odd medications to car insurance in the U.S. and more! Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you subscribed to anything or given out your email about 5-7 months back? Sometimes companies sell your info, leading to spam. A quick search of your digital footprint can help you identify what's out there, and there are tools like Incogni that can assist in opting out of data brokers. It's worth checking out!

You might want to turn on the "Strict" mode in Outlook, which filters your inbox pretty aggressively. Only emails from your contacts and safe senders will come through. Just keep in mind you might miss some legitimate emails, but it can significantly reduce spam.

This is a common issue, unfortunately. If it keeps bothering you, consider creating a new email account or just wait it out; sometimes it gets better with time.

If you're using a Microsoft email account, check the message headers of the spam. There might be some useful info that can aid in creating rules. Use the header analyzer tools to find out more about the spammy emails and see if you can set specific rules to block them effectively. Here's a good resource that explains how to do that: [Microsoft Email Header Guide](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/view-internet-message-headers-in-outlook-cd039382-dc6e-4264-ac74-c048563d212c). You can incorporate lines from the headers into your rules to better filter out the spam.

One solution I've found helpful is to have multiple email addresses for different types of activities. For example, I use one for social media, another for gaming, and so on. This way, you can isolate your personal email from all the marketing data breaches and know where the spam is coming from.
