I'm having trouble formatting my Local Disk (D:), which is a partition on my main hard drive. Whenever I try, Windows gives me messages saying it "can't format" or "can't complete the format." I've attempted to use both Disk Management and CMD/DiskPart, but I've had no success. My goal is to wipe D: clean so I can allocate that space to my C: drive. Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

Make sure to include any error messages you're getting; they can really help identify the issue quickly. Sometimes not seeing those details means we might miss the cause of the problem entirely.
Have you considered trying to delete the D: partition directly in Disk Management? Sometimes that can bypass the formatting problem, but make sure to back up anything important!
It sounds like your D: drive might be in use because of system files. Check to see if there are any system files on that partition preventing the format. You might have to resolve that issue first before trying again.
