How Can I Tell If My Power Supply or Motherboard Is Faulty?

I just built my first PC, but when I tried to power it on, nothing happened—not even the PSU fans kicked in. I got a power supply tester and saw a PG reading of 0, but the PSU fans did come to life. I read online that this could be an inaccurate reading. I'm trying to figure out if it's more likely that my motherboard is the issue, or if the power supply might be bad. Any thoughts based on your experiences?

It's likely that something is connected incorrectly. Check all your cables to make sure they're seated properly, especially the CPU cable near the top left of the motherboard—it can be tricky. Did you also flip the switch on the PSU? That's a common mistake! And don't forget to ensure the front IO panel is connected right. If you want, try shorting the power pins with a screwdriver; it takes just a few seconds and there are plenty of tutorials online.

I did try the screwdriver method, but still no signs of life. I’ll double-check all the connections again since I checked the CPU and power cables before getting the tester.
