How Can I Use My iPod Classic with Linux Instead of iTunes?

I'm fed up with Windows and am transitioning to ZorinOS on my ThinkPad. I've managed to find alternatives for almost all my Windows software, but I'm stuck on iTunes. I really just want to load music onto my 2007 iPod Classic like I could on Windows. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm committed to going full Linux, so I don't want to keep Windows 11 just for iTunes. Thanks!

You could try using Rhythmbox to sync your iPod without needing iTunes. It should work for most setups, but if you prefer not to mess with it, you could mount the iPod as a drive and manually add your mp3s.

You might want to check out some programs like GTKpod or YamiPod that can help manage your iPod on Linux. I haven't used YamiPod in ages, but it had been a reliable choice back then. There's also a Wikipedia page that compares iPod file managers, which could be useful. Just be cautious; the support situation can vary with these programs.

If you're looking for an alternative OS for your iPod, Rockbox could be an option. It lets you manage files like any storage device, but I totally get wanting to keep the original iPod OS since battery life is a concern.
