My friend accidentally spilled some closed water-based lube onto his PC when it dripped down through the grille, affecting parts like the GPU. The computer has been running without issues for several days, but there are noticeable pools of lube on some components. What are the best cleaning methods for this situation?

To clean the lubricant, I recommend using 91% or higher rubbing alcohol and some clean rags or paper towels. Rubbing alcohol is safe for electronics because it evaporates quickly, but just make sure everything dries fully for at least 10 minutes before turning it back on. And, seriously, advise your friend to avoid storing lube on top of expensive gear next time!

What if my friend only has 70% isopropyl alcohol? Is that still okay to use?
