How do I choose the right career path in tech?

Hey everyone! I'm currently navigating my future career options in the tech industry and could really use some guidance. I'm considering three fields: DevOps, Cloud Architecture, and Data Engineering. Here's a bit about my situation: I'm still in high school, I love problem-solving, coding, and working on projects. When I think about my career goals, I want a good salary, the option to work from home, and a clear path for advancement.

So, I have a few questions:
- Which of these areas seems to have the best long-term prospects in Australia?
- What are the typical paths to entry for each of these careers?
- If you were in my shoes starting fresh today, which path would you lean towards and why?
I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences you could share! Thanks a lot!

If you're leaning towards DevOps, just know it involves a broad range of knowledge—definitely not a shallow skill set. Getting into it without prior experience can be tough, and it sometimes just comes down to luck or a lot of effort in interviews. Transitioning from a tech support role can help, though it might take some extra years to move up. Keep an eye on resources like roadmap.sh, it's super helpful!

Before stressing too much about your career, don't forget to graduate high school first! You'll have plenty of time to figure things out afterward. Just remember, life brings its own share of challenges, but those experiences can help you grow. By the way, are you the organized type? Being organized can definitely help in whatever path you choose!

Both DevOps and Cloud Architecture are great picks based on what you're interested in. It really boils down to whether you like data and math (if so, go for Data Engineering) or if you're more into servers, networking, and automation (which is where DevOps and Cloud Architecture come in). Personally, I’ve always been drawn to servers and automation, so I chose that route. Make sure to explore what excites you the most!
