Hey everyone! I've been trying to burn music onto CDs to play on my CD and MP3 player that my family gave me. I got inspired by a CD my dad made with around 140 songs that worked perfectly. However, when I tried using a new blank CD-R, my player didn't recognize some of the song files. I had a mix of FLAC and MP3 formats, but it seems like my player only accepts certain types. So far, I've only managed to burn music the 'official' way, which limits me to 80 minutes maximum. I have two questions: How can I burn songs as MP3s to fit more than 80 minutes on a CD? And is there a way to burn MP3 files onto a DVD to play on my CD/MP3 player without issues?

Unfortunately, you can’t use a DVD in a standard CD player. However, some DVD players can handle MP3 DVDs. If you want to help me figure things out, what’s the brand and model of your CD/MP3 player?
You might need to check your CD player's manual to see which formats and bitrates it supports. If you're hitting issues, you might have to convert your music library, especially since making standard audio CDs is usually a simpler process.
I’m not totally familiar with your specific MP3 player, but I remember some models can indeed read MP3s from discs. Unfortunately, using a DVD won’t work at all since most music disc drives operate on CD-R technology.
So, both CDs and DVDs have these tiny grooves that hold data, but DVDs are way more complex. They need special lasers to read them. That’s why a CD player can read CDs easily, but not DVDs. Some CD players can read MP3 and FLAC formats, but having mixed formats on one disc can cause issues. I’d suggest ripping all your songs to MP3 since that’s the most universally compatible format for CD players!
Just use MP3s for burning onto the CD without needing to convert them! Just double-check that your CD player supports MP3 files.
