How to Connect My TV Audio to My Receiver’s Speakers?

I want to improve my movie-watching experience by getting the audio to play through my speakers connected to a receiver. My TV has a USB 2.0 port, which is also available on my receiver, but it's labeled "5V 200mA MAX, FOR SERVICE"—can I use that? My TV supports ARC HDMI, but my receiver only has that USB and RCA inputs. It also has an optical output, but my receiver doesn't support that either. Is there a way to make this work?

You might need an RCA to HDMI adapter to make the connection, but be aware that it’s not a straightforward plug-and-play situation. You could look for a digital to analog converter specifically for optical to RCA. Also, there are HDMI ARC de-embedders or audio extractors that can split the audio for you, but make sure you get one meant for HDMI ARC, not just regular HDMI.

Would this work? Just need an RCA and optical cable.
