I created an Apple account about 15 years ago but haven't used it in ages. Recently, I started receiving a bunch of spam emails about purchase confirmations that seem to be linked to this old account, which still has some leftover store credit. I don't care about the money, but the spam is really annoying. I've tried deleting the account but ran into a wall—it requires a password (which I've managed to reset) and answers to security questions that I don't know, and I can't reset these either because it just keeps looping me back. I don't have any Apple devices, so contacting Apple Support is out of the question. Is there any way to stop this madness?

If you can borrow an Apple device from someone, you might try adding your Apple account email as an iCloud account in the Mail settings. Then, it should prompt you to upgrade your account security. Set up two-factor authentication, and that could allow you to delete the account. Alternatively, sign in as a 'Media and Purchases' account on an Apple device; there might be a similar prompt to upgrade to two-factor authentication there too!
You could try resetting the password again via email since that's bringing in notifications. Even though deleting it requires both the password and security questions, resetting your password could give you another shot.
