How to Dual Boot Windows 10 with CachyOS on Separate SSDs?

I'm setting up a dual boot on my system with a 500GB SSD already running CachyOS and a second 2TB SSD that's completely empty. I want to install Windows 10 on the second SSD but still keep half of it available for expanding my CachyOS space. Is this setup advisable? What should I be aware of during the process? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When you're in CachyOS, you should be able to see the Windows disk. You could configure a partition intended just for CachyOS and then use the diskpart command to hide that partition from Windows. Just a tip: if you can, it's better to physically disconnect your Linux SSD while you install Windows to avoid messing with its partitions. After that, you can add the Windows boot option to GRUB so you won't have to change the BIOS settings each time you boot.

I can't really remove the Linux SSD since I'm on a laptop. But the Windows installer isn't detecting any drives at all, which is a hassle. Thanks for the tips anyway!

You'll want to make sure to set the Windows drive as the first boot device in your BIOS settings. After that, boot back into CachyOS and run `update-grub` to ensure that your system recognizes the Windows install. You can adjust the disk layout later using GParted as needed.
