How to Find Out Who’s Assuming Our Internet Costs?

I'm currently trying to figure out who provides our internet service at work. I reached out to our external IT company, but they mentioned they don't manage our internet access. A check I did pointed to WaveNet, but when I called them, they had no record of our account. It seems we're not paying anyone for internet services, which is puzzling. On one hand, we have free internet, but on the other, it raises security concerns. Any advice on how to track down who's covering our internet bills would be greatly appreciated!

If your accounts department can't find anything, you might have a general service that’s not specific to any company. Typically, for residential service, it could range from £30-60, or over £200 if it's a leased line. Also, how did you conduct the ISP check? Using just the IP address?

Is there a chance you're using a virtual ISP? WaveNet might not be your direct reseller. Sometimes these arrangements are made without clear invoicing just to keep things simple. It might be worth investigating further if there are hidden charges.

They do have subcontracting options, so that could make sense, but I still can't find any bills.

It might be worth looking into your router's settings if you have access. Usually, it logs into the internet with a username/password or an IP address. If it uses a username format like '[email protected]', you can trace that back to the provider. Just be cautious if you’re concerned about security.

Have you checked with your accounting department? Usually, they handle all the bills, and if it's been several years without payment, they might have some insights to uncover. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

Yes, we share an office space, and they've mentioned no bills have come through for ISP in years, so it’s weird!
