How to Fix WiFi Issues on an Old Gaming PC?

I recently picked up a used gaming PC that has an ROG STRIX Z370-G Gaming motherboard, which should support WiFi. However, I'm having trouble getting the WiFi to work. There's no sign of WiFi or Bluetooth in my network connections. The Device Manager shows Bluetooth USB Host Controller and Network Controller, but both have caution triangles, indicating driver issues. Here's what I've already tried: I've updated Windows (I'm on Windows 10), attempted to find drivers in Device Manager, downloaded drivers from Asus for both WiFi and Bluetooth, browsed my computer for drivers directly, and even uninstalled the devices to scan for hardware changes, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue without having to buy a new WiFi card?

Classic driver problem! Head over to the ASUS support page for the ROG STRIX Z370-G and download the WiFi and Bluetooth drivers directly from there. The caution triangles in Device Manager usually mean that Windows hasn't auto-detected them correctly. After you install the right drivers, they should show up normally. Also, double-check if the antenna cable is connected; sometimes, the previous owner might have disconnected it, which can lead to connectivity issues.

Also, don’t forget to check if there are any antennas attached to your PC. Typically, there should be two on the back for better signal reception.

You might want to check if WiFi is enabled in the BIOS. Sometimes that setting can get disabled, especially in older systems. Reboot your PC and look for the WiFi settings in the BIOS menu. It could save you from digging deeper into drivers if that’s the issue.

If it's an m.2 slot, a new WiFi card is pretty affordable—like around $30. Another option is to identify your current card, tether your phone as a hotspot, and download the drivers directly. You could also use another computer to grab the drivers and transfer them via USB, so you don't have to get a new card right away.
