Hey everyone, I'm looking for ways to require users to log into OneDrive without using their domain credentials. The problem is that our users' domain passwords don't match their Microsoft accounts, so the silent sign-on GPO won't work for us. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It seems like you're trying to force users to enter a second password for something they already have credentials for. This feels a bit counterproductive for IT infrastructure planning.
Why not use Single Sign-On (SSO)? It really simplifies user access. Just a thought!
Consider setting up cloud sync and moving towards a hybrid setup. It’s free for educational environments and really streamlines things for users.
Absolutely agree! This is a great, no-cost solution, and it just makes sense.
Just to clarify, this is for a school setting. We’re transitioning to more cloud-based solutions and want students to log into OneDrive. We aim to stop backing up personal drives to our server and let them save directly to OneDrive. Any advice would be super helpful! Also, we’re currently using local Active Directory.
Looks like you should really consider implementing Entra AD. Sync users and take it from there; otherwise, you might face issues when students try to log in.
You might want to check your tenant rules. After initial login with Microsoft 365 credentials, OneDrive should cache them unless there are token refresh issues.

Not all of us have the luxury of having Active Directory running in the cloud!
