How to Manage a Constantly Filling C Drive on My SSD?

I've had this computer for over a year, and my SSD is divided into three separate drives: 100GB for the C drive and about 425GB for the other two. The C drive keeps staying above 90GB full, even though I don't have much going on in it besides app data. I usually clean a few hundred megabytes when it gets too packed, but I need a more effective long-term solution. What would you recommend?

If you’re looking at long-term solutions, a 4TB NVMe drive would be a game changer! It’s worth the investment if you can swing it.

Honestly, 100GB for a C drive is pretty tight these days, especially with everything split up. I’d suggest getting a second SSD. You could back everything up onto it, then reformat your original drive and do a clean install of Windows.

You should definitely try using tools like TreeSize or WizTree to identify what files are taking up space. I recently freed up 240GB on my 1TB NVMe by going through the files and deciding what was really important.

Depending on your budget, I'd recommend at least a 1TB drive nowadays. If money is tight, consider a 500GB or 256GB NVMe SSD if your motherboard supports it, or a standard SSD if not. For files that don’t need fast access, you could move them over to a regular hard drive.

For a quick fix, consider moving your user folder to one of the larger drives. This will help you clear out downloads and documents from the C drive. Also, be sure to install programs in a location other than the default program files folder to save space. For a more permanent fix, you might want to reformat your SSD and partition it to better suit your needs.
