Hey everyone, I've got an interview coming up for an entry-level Cloud Engineer position, and I want to be well-prepared. I've been working in IT for about 4-5 years, and the job description aligns closely with my current role. I'm curious about the best ways to get ready for the technical part of the interview. Are there specific topics I should focus on, and can anyone recommend resources for preparing? I really don't want to underprepare for this!

It's important to know that, as a Cloud Engineer, having DevOps skills is often expected, along with expertise in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This understanding typically sets Cloud Engineers apart from Sys Admin roles, as you should know how the DevOps pipeline works and how to set it up effectively.

For entry-level cloud engineer interviews, the focus usually isn't on memorizing Azure details but rather demonstrating your problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot. Here’s what you should review:

- Core concepts like RBAC, VNets, NSGs, and the differences between private and public access.
- Understand how to manage storage accounts and the basics of compute, such as differences between VMs and App Services.
- Prepare for "how would you..." scenarios, like deploying something, securing it, monitoring, and debugging.

Have 2-3 real stories from your job ready to share—think migrations, automation, or incident responses, but keep it simple. One effective way to prepare is to build a small Azure lab for hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and get comfortable talking through it. Even a weekend project can give you a lot of confidence.

Great advice! I was super busy but still managed to squeeze in time for projects. Made a huge difference. By the way, I have a sanitized demo and evidence manifest.json that might help you out. Good luck with your interview!

Absolutely, it’s more about showcasing the right mindset than being an Azure expert. I’ve got a couple of mini labs set up too, and I’m polishing them up. Regarding your stories, I think personal projects can definitely add value—just make sure they align with the skills they're looking for!

Can you clarify the format of the tech interview? Are you going to have a hands-on task or just be asked questions? It helps to know because that can change your preparation approach. Also, have you tried looking online for resources? It can be overwhelming, but checking out some guides or videos might ease your nerves. Just remember to sleep well, eat right, and go in with confidence but not arrogance. Listening actively will help too!

Totally agree—make sure you're in a good space mentally. Adding something lighthearted like a funny video before the interview can put you in a great mood. It's about showcasing both your technical abilities and your problem-solving approach!

Sure! Just to clarify, this will be the technical interview phase following the initial HR screening. I believe they’ll test my Azure knowledge and practical skills, but no assessments were mentioned. I'm doing my research online as well.
