How to Safely Move My PC from Ireland to Switzerland?

I'm relocating from Ireland to Switzerland in about six weeks and I want to safely transport my new PC. I purchased a prebuilt rig from PCSpecialist with a 9800X3D CPU, a Sapphire Nitro 9070 XT graphics card, and 64GB of DDR5 RAM. I've kept the original box with all the foam and bubble wrap. Is it a good idea to repack it and send it to my new home? I'm considering removing the graphics card, wrapping it in bubble wrap, and taking it in my carry-on for the flight. However, I don't have the original boxes for the other components. Any advice?

I recently did something similar but I had a smaller case that fit into my checked luggage. I took everything apart, packed the motherboard and CPU separately, and used clothing to cushion the rest. If your case is large, you might need to ship it but check if you can transport it as checked baggage.

I edited my original post with details about my build. The case is pretty big and I don’t have boxes for individual parts as it was all prebuilt.

You can definitely use the original case box for shipping, but make sure to tightly pack any empty spaces inside the case to prevent components from moving around during transit. Also, it might be smarter to think about selling your PC and buying a new one in Switzerland to avoid the shipping costs—those can get pretty high!

From my experience, buying a new setup in Switzerland might cost you way more. I've lived there and the prices are outrageous! It’s better to just ship your PC.

It's crucial to pull the graphics card and maybe even any large coolers to stabilize the setup. Use packing material to secure everything inside the case, and don’t forget to get shipping insurance! It's worth it if anything gets damaged.

When I moved from France to Canada, I took the GPU in my backpack and shipped the rest in the original box. It took a long time, about 2 months, but everything arrived perfectly fine!

Wow, two months?! That’s quite a wait!

Yes, make sure to remove the GPU for sure. It's usually the most vulnerable part and you should pack it separately to avoid any damage.
