I'm looking for ways to control file storage within my organization. I want to ensure that everyone uses SharePoint for file storage and collaboration directly, without any files being uploaded to their personal OneDrive accounts and then syncing to SharePoint. I have full administrative rights to implement this, and I want to completely eliminate the possibility of users uploading files to OneDrive that end up syncing with SharePoint. Any advice on how to achieve this?

It's important to note that OneDrive and SharePoint actually use the same backend system, so some users might not realize that what looks like syncing is just the way they access SharePoint content through OneDrive. You can limit what users can do by adjusting their access rights in SharePoint. Also, educate users on how to correctly use SharePoint directly instead of OneDrive.
I totally get where you're coming from. You want to keep things organized and make sure that everything is put in the right place. Have you considered communicating your expectations clearly to users? Sometimes it helps to explain why using SharePoint is better for teamwork and project management.
You're right, there isn't a traditional 'sync' like people think. OneDrive is essentially the personal storage area for users while SharePoint is more for team collaboration. If you want to prevent users from uploading to their personal OneDrive, consider setting up policies that restrict OneDrive access. This way they have to use SharePoint.
