Hey folks, I'm completely new to Linux and I've been diving into it lately. I bought a separate SSD to dual-boot with Windows 11, hoping to try out Garuda Dragonized Edition because it seems beginner-friendly while still being robust for daily use. I downloaded the ISO from the official website and used BalenaEtcher to create a bootable USB. However, when I try to boot from it, I just get a black screen. I've turned off fast and secure boot in the BIOS, and I even switched to 'Other OS' since I couldn't find a disable option. I've tried varying (and confusing) boot options from BIOS, but still no luck. I updated the BIOS, reformatted the USB multiple times, and tinkered with settings to no avail. Here are my specs: Motherboard - ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS, Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, GPU - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 EAGLE 12G, RAM - Kingston FURY 16GB KIT DDR4 3200MHz. I'm really looking for some guidance here because I don't want to give up on Linux just yet!

That's a tricky issue! Have you tried a different program for writing the ISO, like Rufus? Also, switching USB ports might help if you're facing hardware compatibility problems. If that doesn't work, you could try downloading Fedora or Linux Mint to see if they install without a hitch. Garuda can be a bit temperamental with certain setups, so exploring other distros might be worth your time. Good luck with your installation!
I had a similar issue with Garuda not booting at all. After running into black screens, I switched to using Rufus, and that made a difference. I also recommend trying a different USB port—back ports directly connected to the motherboard often work better for booting. If those routes don’t work, try out Garuda Lite instead. It might be less demanding on your hardware and you can make it resemble the Dragonized version once you're in. Fingers crossed!
