I'm trying to get VirtualBox set up on my Steam Deck for a school project, but I'm a bit lost. I've successfully installed VirtualBox on Windows before, but the process for Linux, especially on SteamOS, is confusing to me since I'm not very experienced with Linux. Should I try to install VirtualBox directly on SteamOS, or would it be easier to just dual-boot Windows for the installation?

Before diving into VirtualBox, have you considered using the Boxes application? It's a more straightforward tool for running virtual machines on Linux and could be easier for you to manage. Just a heads-up, installing VirtualBox could be tricky on SteamOS; there’s a risk of messing up your SteamOS setup since it’s quite locked down. If the setup gets too complex, dual-booting Windows might be the way to go!
If you're looking to run Kali Linux or Arch, Gnome Boxes is a solid option. It should serve your needs well for basic VM tasks. However, if you need more configuration options, you might want to check out virt-manager; it offers a bit more control over the virtual machines. Good luck!
