I'm really frustrated and could use some help. I've got an old iPhone 11 that I recently set up with a new iCloud account. During the setup, it asked for a phone number, so I just put in a random one without thinking too much. Now, the account is locked, and since 'Find My iPhone' is turned on, I can't log out or restore the phone. It keeps asking me to log in, and I can't even access the account settings because I don't remember the phone number I used. I called Apple Support, but they said there's nothing they can do unless I know that number. I feel like there has to be a workaround for this. It can't be that complicated, right? I know the phone's history and previous accounts; this new iCloud was just set up less than a day ago!

Seriously, why did you choose a random number in the first place? That's a classic mistake! Just remember this for future setups.
Honestly, it sounds like you might’ve made a mistake and are paying the price here. It's frustrating for sure, but you’ve got to look at it as a learning experience.
The number you set is actually your 'trusted phone number' for two-factor authentication. If you're locked out, you might want to try submitting an activation lock removal request to prove ownership. Just keep in mind, without that number, it could be a dead end for you.
Unfortunately, it sounds like you're in a tough spot. Apple’s security is super strict to prevent unauthorized access. The only real option is to try to remember or guess that number you input. If it really was random, I’m afraid your iPhone might be a paperweight now. Just a hard lesson to learn, I guess.
Yeah, it’s a bummer. I still think they should have enforced a more secure method from the get-go, especially if that number was so crucial later on.
If you have the original proof of purchase for the iPhone, you might have a chance. Apple can unlock it for you then. Otherwise, there's not much that can be done without that number.
Sadly, it's an old work phone, so that proof of purchase is long gone. Looks like it’s stuck as a paperweight.
Thanks for the tip, but what if I try account recovery? The issue is I can’t remember the number that was put in.
