Is a 650W PSU Enough for My New Build?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC and currently have a Gigabyte 650W 80+ Gold PSU. I'm planning to get an AMD 5700X3D CPU and an RX 7700 XT graphics card, but I'm a bit concerned. Many reviews suggest that a minimum of a 700W PSU is recommended. Can I safely use my 650W PSU, or should I consider upgrading?

Yeah, you should be okay with a 650W PSU. It's always better to have some extra wattage, like 750/850W, for future upgrades, but sticking with your 650W is a smart way to save some cash. By the way, what other components are you using, and what's your budget? There might be better options than the 5700X3D/7700XT depending on prices right now.

Your 650W PSU should be strong enough for your build! Just to give you some reassurance, the CPU is about 105W and the GPU around 220W, so you're in a safe zone here.

Based on my experience, a 650W PSU should work fine for your setup. I plugged in similar components into PCPartPicker, and the total showed around 500W. If your system does end up struggling later, you can always upgrade to a 750W or 850W PSU down the road. Many pre-builts with high-end GPUs, like the RTX 4070, run fine on a 650W PSU too.

That's good to know! I plugged my components into PCPartPicker as well, and it gave a total of 506W. However, I noticed AMD recommends a minimum of 700W on their site.
