Is an In-Place Upgrade of Azure AD Connect Possible Before the April Deadline?

Hey everyone! I need some advice on upgrading our Azure AD Connect from version 2.3.6.0 to 2.4.131.0. We have some custom sync rules in place, and I've been told that with the April 30 deadline approaching, an in-place upgrade might not be feasible anymore. Do I really need to go for a swing migration instead?

You might still be able to do an in-place upgrade to at least version 2.4.18.0. I don't see any reason why you couldn't!

I actually upgraded from that exact version just a week or two back without any issues. I did it during standard business hours too! Just worked fine for me.

How did you manage the in-place upgrade? Did you have any custom sync rules or was it just a single forest setup?

Honestly, an in-place upgrade can be done. Just export your config, run the installer, and then import the config back. It’s not super complicated but make sure you have backups just in case!

I've done a few in-place upgrades without any hiccups. Just make sure to keep the deadline in mind, since some features might start acting up if you wait too long after April 30.
