Is buying a new microphone necessary for better audio quality?

I've been using a wired HyperX headset with a removable mic, but my friends keep telling me my audio quality is terrible and it glitches a lot. I tried switching to a wireless Corsair HS55, but they said it was even worse, so I returned it. I play on a laptop which makes a loud noise, similar to a vacuum. So, do I really need to invest in a professional microphone to get decent audio quality, or could it be an issue with my laptop's drivers or the headsets I've been using?

I've got a HyperX Cloud II, and honestly, I've had good feedback on the mic quality. I did adjust some settings using VoicemeeterBanana to manage noise and give it a bit more bass. Those mics can work well enough if you tweak them a bit.

Got it! What should I tweak in VoicemeeterBanana?

First off, check your microphone input settings on Windows to see if it's accidentally set to the built-in laptop mic instead of your headset. That could make a big difference!

You might want to try recording your voice first and listening to it. There are also affordable microphones out there—just check out some reviews on YouTube to find a good one!

Consider lowering the input volume for your mic in the Windows sound settings. My mic used to clip a lot when set to 100; going down to 85 worked much better for me! But it'd help to know more about how your mic is glitching.
