Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice. I graduated from a bootcamp in 2021, got a comfy job as a frontend web developer making $110,000 a year with unlimited PTO and a great work-life balance. Fast forward a bit, I was laid off and spent the next year and a half trying my hand at freelancing. However, without much guidance, I ended up undercharging clients significantly for my work. Just recently, I landed a full-stack role at a promising remote startup with a salary of $125,000, but the workload is way more intense than my previous job, and I'm starting to feel completely burnt out. My sleep schedule is a disaster, I've had personal relationships suffer, and despite my efforts at work, I'm feeling exhausted and unmotivated.
I miss the freedom of freelancing, especially after talking to a friend who's charging around $30,000 for web builds, which blew my mind given my prior rates. I'm seriously considering quitting my job to try freelancing again, possibly starting with a project for an insurance agency that a friend's dad runs. I'm just wondering if anyone has tips on how to find clients willing to pay me well for my skills, or if freelancing might just lead to more burnout? Thanks for any insights!
