I'm considering a career switch to focus on Azure Data Factory (ADF). I have an intermediate background in SQL Server, SSRS, and SSIS, and I'm thinking about getting certified in ADF. However, I'm concerned about the rise of AI and whether it's going to take over entry-level and even advanced positions in this field. Is pursuing these certifications worthwhile, and how close is AI to impacting jobs in data engineering?

ADF is established and continues to be used, though it's mainly receiving maintenance updates now. You might also want to explore Microsoft Fabric; that's where a lot of innovation is happening right now. If you're looking for something more versatile, Databricks is another great choice, but you'll need to pursue their certifications too.

Absolutely consider mixing in some Azure Fabric and Python. Data engineering will remain vital since AI relies heavily on quality data. Focus on mastering how to handle that data well, and you'll be in a good position no matter how AI evolves.

Your SSIS experience gives you a solid foundation for ADF, and there's still demand for ADF specialists out there. Just make sure to also learn some Databricks and Python; that combo will really boost your profile. While it’s true AI is advancing, data roles are still crucial because AI needs reliable data to function well.
