I have an old HP Stream that I've been using as my main computer since around 2020. The issue is that it doesn't have enough storage for dual partitioning, so if I decide to install Linux, I'd have to wipe out Windows entirely. I've heard of others successfully running Linux on HP Streams, so I'm hopeful, but I'm also worried about making a mistake and potentially bricking the device. If I don't decide to go the installation route right away, I was thinking of just setting up a full install on a bootable USB stick for now. I know that's not the most reliable option, but I don't want to mess around with setting up an external drive. Am I overthinking how difficult it is to install Linux on a Windows machine, or would it be smarter to start with the USB stick? Right now, I'm leaning towards either Ubuntu or Mint, since Ubuntu has a lot of resources available, but I find Mint looks better suited for my needs since it's lighter.

Honestly, you might be overthinking it a bit! Installing Linux on a Windows machine isn't that scary. Both Ubuntu and Mint are pretty straightforward. Mint actually has access to a lot of resources and tutorials too, not just Ubuntu, so you'll be fine either way. Just back up your important files, and give it a shot!
I'd suggest just going for Mint or Zorin. They should run smoothly on your HP Stream and you'll enjoy them!
Excellent, thank you for the recommendation!
Haha, thanks for the reassurance!
