Hi everyone! I'm new to the world of PCs and I'm reaching out for some advice. I recently got an HP Mini with an i5 8th gen processor, 16GB RAM, and a 256GB NVMe drive. Until now, I've mostly used Windows at internet cafes and my friends' places. My first experience with Linux was installing Linux Mint as my beginner distro, and currently, I'm using Ubuntu to learn Blender and some Python programming from YouTube.

It can be pretty straightforward if you're using a desktop environment (DE) since the tools available are comparable to other distros. Just dive into it and don't shy away from trying things out!
I’ve noticed that certain tools, like the Blender preferences dialog, sometimes misbehave depending on your setup. What desktop environment are you using? Are you on Wayland or X11? It might help to troubleshoot!
If you’re okay with reading documentation, using pure Debian shouldn't be overly difficult. Just make sure you utilize the Debian wiki—it has a ton of helpful info.
Honestly, starting with pure Debian can be a bit tricky for beginners. It's not as user-friendly as some other distros, but it's definitely easier than Arch or some of the more niche options out there.
You might want to check out LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). It's a good compromise since it’s Minty and based on Debian.
