I'm currently using 16GB of RAM and I'm looking to upgrade to 32GB. The most affordable way seems to be to just add another 16GB set, but I'm curious about the potential downsides of running 4 sticks of RAM instead of just 2. Would this setup cause any issues with performance or stability? Any advice would be appreciated!

It really depends on what RAM you're using. If they're high-speed sticks, it can be tricky to keep them stable. But if you stick with something like 3200MHz, you're usually fine. Mine's been rock solid on 4 sticks at that speed.
Using 4 sticks isn't a big deal if you have a compatible setup, especially with newer AMD or Intel processors. Just make sure to get the same model as your current RAM to avoid instability, though even then it can be hit or miss. Some setups run perfectly fine with 4 sticks!
Had no issues running 4 sticks for years. Just make sure your motherboard supports it.
Everything you hear about 4 sticks being problematic is mostly exaggerated. Many people use 4 sticks with no problems. Just double-check your motherboard specs and timings.
True! I've been running 4 sticks mixed with different speeds without a hitch.
If you're using a Ryzen 5000 or a recent Intel chip, 4 sticks should work smoothly, especially with XMP profiles enabled. In my experience, it’s mostly about matching speeds and timings.
I went from 2 sticks to 4 sticks and didn't notice any issues. Just make sure to monitor your system and maybe tweak some settings manually if XMP isn't stable.
Exactly! I had to do some manual tweaking, but now it runs like a champ. Just be ready to adjust if needed.

Yep, I agree! I've mixed different brands without issues, although having the same specs helps. Just plug them in and see how they perform.
