Is it safe to let a stranger connect to my hotspot?

Hey everyone, I'm not super tech-savvy, but a stranger approached me today and begged to connect to my hotspot for just five minutes. I felt like I had no choice but to say yes. Now that I'm heading home, I'm starting to worry. Is it possible for him to hack my phone or access my bank information? Am I overreacting or should I really be concerned? Thanks for any advice!

Another tip: use a Guest Network if you have that option, it can provide an extra layer of safety when sharing your connection with others.

How do I set up a Guest Network? Is it hard to do?

It's pretty unlikely he'll be able to do anything harmful just by connecting to your hotspot. I'd recommend changing the hotspot password as a precaution and just moving on. Next time, you can simply say 'sorry, I can't' or use an excuse like not having hotspot data.

Honestly, if someone can hack into your phone through your hotspot, they probably wouldn't need to ask for your permission to use it in the first place. Try not to worry too much and just keep an eye on your devices.
