Is it worth trading my RX 7800XT for an RTX 5060Ti just for better image quality?

Hey folks,

I just picked up a Radeon RX 7800XT 16GB for €350, which felt like a steal at the time. But I've been using it for a few days now, and I'm starting to get annoyed with the image quality when using FSR3. It sometimes looks a bit blurry or artificial, especially after playing on the PS5, where the visuals seem much cleaner and more consistent.

I'm considering selling my 7800XT and getting an RTX 5060Ti 16GB instead, which I can also find second-hand for about the same price, maybe just a bit more. My main goal is to get better visual quality and a more 'console-like' image through DLSS4.

Do you think this switch is worth it just for improved image quality, or would it be a waste of money for only a slight difference? I'm not really chasing more performance; I just want cleaner visuals. I'd appreciate any thoughts, especially from anyone who's tried comparing FSR3 and DLSS4 in real-world scenarios. Thanks!

If you keep updating the DLSS in your games to the latest version, even the quality mode looks better than native resolution. Some games have outdated DLSS models that are pretty bad, but you can fix that easily. If image quality matters this much to you, going with the 5060Ti could be worth it—just be sure you experience it in person rather than just watching comparisons online.

Or you could just skip FSR3 altogether if it's bothering you! Sometimes just avoiding certain upscaling can lead to a much better experience without needing to swap cards.

I wouldn’t switch. A number of users say the RX 7800XT’s raw performance beats trying to rely on upscaling. In direct comparisons, it's pretty clear the 7800XT holds its own, and you might find you prefer its capabilities overall.

It really depends on the game. With the 7800XT, you can typically run at native resolution and get similar performance to the 5060Ti with DLSS. Plus, there's a workaround to enable FSR4 on the 7000 series, which could improve your situation without switching.

Honestly, I’d recommend selling the 7800XT and looking into a 5070 instead. That way, you get a nice boost in raw FPS along with better image quality.

There are some ways to use FSR4 with AMD’s 6000 and 7000 series, but it might take some tweaking for each game. Also, the 5060Ti is typically about 10-15% slower than the 7800XT overall, even if it's a bit better for ray tracing. For 1080p and some 1440p gaming, it’s solid, but you'd likely still see the benefit of DLSS in many games. Just be aware that ray tracing isn’t a huge selling point for the 5060Ti.
