Is it worth upgrading from a 4070 Ti Super to a 5070 Ti for $100?

I'm considering an upgrade from my 4070 Ti Super to a 5070 Ti to avoid a possible GPU shortage due to VRAM shortages and rising prices. Right now, I can get a 5070 Ti for $730, and they're offering me $630 for my 4070 Ti Super in trade. So, it would only cost me $100 more. Looking at the performance, I'm expecting around 10-15% better with the new card, plus the newer features like DLSS and MFG that I'd use sometimes. Is this a smart move? I also thought about the 5080, but with a $350 increase after trade-in for about 25-30% better performance, it seems less appealing. Any thoughts?

I’d lean towards the 5070 Ti too. The potential VRAM on the 5080 doesn’t appeal to me as much. I’d rather stick with the newer tech that performs well.

Honestly, getting a 15% performance boost for a 16% price increase sounds good to me. Plus, with the MFG feature that you'll use, it definitely adds value to the new card.

If you're not struggling financially, then absolutely go for it! The slight upgrade could really enhance your gaming experience.

I tried upgrading as well, but unfortunately, my card didn't meet the trade-in conditions. Keep an eye out for any promotions like gift cards that could help with the cost if you're looking to upgrade.

What exactly made you fail the trade requirements? My card is in excellent condition, so I'm hoping to avoid issues.

The 5080 does offer more video decoders; if that's something you'd use a lot, it might be worth considering—even if it's a bigger investment.

Upgrading for $100 to get about 10% more performance along with the newer DLSS and MFG isn't a bad deal. Just keep in mind that future proofing is often a marketing gimmick. When upgrade time comes again in a few years, you might find better options for the same price. So it's really up to you if you think the small boost is worth it for the price.

Yeah, I get that. But if you can snag a good price on your old card and the new one, it might make sense to upgrade more often.

Absolutely! I upgraded from an older card, and it’s been beneficial to stay on top of the newer tech.

It really depends on your budget. If you're in a comfortable place financially, that upgrade could be worth it just for the newer features and slight performance boost.
