Is it worth upgrading from an RTX 3060 to a better GPU?

I'm currently using an RTX 3060 12GB with a B450-A Pro Max motherboard, paired with a Ryzen 5 5700X CPU and 32GB of Corsair LPX RAM at 3200MHz. My power supply is 500W. I've noticed that my GPU often hits around 90% usage while gaming at 1080p on Ultra settings in Arc Raider, averaging about 75 FPS. The CPU hovers around 60% usage. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to upgrade to a newer or used GPU that can run at a reasonable price, to potentially game at 1440p on Ultra. Would I also need to upgrade my power supply for this change?

Yeah, it's definitely worth upgrading if you want a better gaming experience.

Your 5700X isn't going to bottleneck your performance—it's still a good CPU. With your budget and a 500W PSU, the 9060XT would be a solid pick. It's efficient power-wise and offers enough VRAM for 1440p gaming.

So the 9060XT 16GB (160W) uses less power than my 3060 12GB (170W), right?

It really depends on your budget. How much are you thinking of spending on a new GPU?

I'm seeing 3060's out there for around $250, but I could stretch my budget a bit—maybe add another $250, so about $500 total.

From what I've read, your CPU can handle significantly more FPS if you upgrade your GPU. So yes, if you're looking for better performance, go for the upgrade! You might also want to consider lowering some graphics settings if you want to stick with your current GPU.

The 9060XT is another option that's worth considering. It performs decently for a newer card without breaking the bank.

With a 500W power supply, you're likely safe to fit in a GPU around 250W. The 9070 could be a solid choice—it’s about 2.5 times better than your 3060.

I found 5060 8GB for around $500 and 5060 Ti 16GB for $700. How do they stack up against the 9070?
