Good morning, everyone! I upgraded my GPU to a new 4080 Super about a month ago, and now I'm thinking about enhancing my PC further. I play games at 2K resolution and use a Pimax Crystal VR headset, so I'm looking to really push my system. Currently, I have an i7 8700K paired with 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Do you think it makes sense to replace my motherboard, processor, and RAM for a significant performance boost in gaming? If the upgrade won't provide a noticeable improvement, I'd rather hold off. Thanks for your insights!

Upgrading would definitely give you a solid boost! I’d recommend going for a Ryzen 7800X3D or the 9800X3D for top-tier performance. If you're on a budget, the 9600X could be a great option too. Don’t forget you'll need DDR5 RAM at around 6000 MHz for the best results. As for the motherboard, a B650 or B850 should work just fine!
Honestly, if you’re feeling the need for an upgrade, then go for it! If your games are lagging at 2K or just not performing how you want, an upgrade is definitely worth it if you can swing it. If everything feels solid, maybe you can stick with your current setup for a bit longer.
I was looking at the 9600X too! It’s cheaper than the 7800 and 9800, but I can't decide. Do you think there's a big difference, especially for 2K and VR?
