Is it Worth Upgrading to the 5700X3D from a 5800X?

I recently made the jump from a 1080 Ti to a 9070 XT GPU, but I've noticed a decline in my FPS while playing Valorant. Sometimes it even dips below 200 FPS. I've tested performance at both 1440p and 1080p resolutions, and the FPS drops occur in both cases. I'm considering upgrading to a 5700X3D for $280 CAD from my current 5800X but I'm unsure if it will be a noticeable improvement. The rising prices of RAM have made upgrading to AM5 quite expensive for me. Any thoughts?

The results you are getting are below what is expected from your setup, I think what might have happened is when you swapped your hardware your motherboard's ram settings reset. RAM has a very big effect on ur CPU performance. I had the same issue when I swapped out my 5600X for a 5800X. Check your motherboard settings to see if the XMP profile for your ram is on and it's running at it's expected speeds.

I think it could be worth upgrading if you sell the 5800X first. For the price difference, it could lead to noticeable FPS improvements at both 1080p and 1440p.

Upgrading to the 5700X3D could give you a slight boost in FPS at 1080p, but I’m not sure how much of a difference you’d see at 1440p. Given that your system performed better before the GPU swap, it might be worth checking if there’s a software or driver issue causing the FPS drops.

If you're planning to stick with your setup for a while, upgrading is probably a good move, especially if you check that your motherboard BIOS is up to date. You could always sell your 5800X to offset some costs as well.

The RAM situation does play a role here, so maybe hold off for a couple of months until RAM prices drop. But honestly, 200 FPS is quite sufficient for most gamers.

Did you use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) when switching GPUs? That can help a lot with performance issues!

Yes, I did the DDU in safe mode and then installed the new drivers after switching cards.
