Is Learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React Enough to Start Freelancing?

I'm wondering if just learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React is enough to kick off a freelancing career. Do I need more skills, or can I jump straight into projects with just what I've learned?

I totally see where you're coming from. I didn’t have formal experience either when I started freelancing. I put together a few projects for fun, and when I offered services, I actually landed some gigs! Of course, it’s not the easiest path, but people do make it work. It’s all about how you present your skills and experience to potential clients.

Honestly, diving straight into freelancing might be a bit of a stretch without some hands-on experience. Clients usually prefer people with a proven skill set. It's one thing to know the languages, but how can you accurately quote project costs and timelines without prior experience? Sure, you can learn on the job, but would you want to hire someone who’s still figuring out the basics? It’s important to build up some experience first, maybe even by working in a team or taking on internships.

I get that point about needing experience before freelancing, but I think starting with some small projects could work. You can learn a lot by doing real projects, plus it helps to build a portfolio. I plan to tackle smaller freelance gigs to gain experience and build trust with clients while I improve my skills. Everyone has to start somewhere, right?
