Is McAfee Really That Bad for My MacBook?

I just got my MacBook three days ago and installed a one-year free McAfee package. After talking to a friend, I found out that McAfee can actually slow down my system, which freaked me out! So, I quickly uninstalled it. Now, I'm worried I might have harmed my Mac in some way. Is simply uninstalling and restarting enough to ensure everything's fine?

I think you'll be alright! Just make sure to keep an eye on your performance. A lot of people recommend not installing antivirus on Macs in the first place because they can slow things down.

Honestly, uninstalling it should be enough. Just monitoring your Mac for any unusual behavior is smart. Some users say that once you use antivirus software, remnants can stick around, but you should be fine!

Yeah, McAfee has a pretty bad reputation for Macs. Even John McAfee himself warned against using his own software! Keep an eye on your Mac just in case, and make sure your files are backed up. An OS reinstall might be good to consider, but it shouldn't be necessary unless you notice issues.
