Is More RAM or Faster RAM Better for Gaming?

I'm trying to decide between two RAM options for my AMD 9800X3D with a 5080 graphics card: 48GB at 8000 MT/s or 64GB at 6400 MT/s. The 48GB costs $239, while the 64GB is $249. There's also a third option: 32GB at 8000 MT/s for $179. Which configuration would be the best choice for gaming performance?

It really depends on what you plan to do with your setup. For gaming, speed and latency can be more impactful than sheer memory size. Most AMD AM5 setups see diminishing returns past 6000 MT/s, so if you're primarily gaming, consider sticking to a maximum of 6000 or even 6400 MT/s for better value.

Exactly! If you don't plan to do heavy multitasking or memory-intensive tasks, 32GB is probably more than enough for your needs.

If you're considering 64GB, ask yourself if you'll actually use it. If gaming is your main focus, you'll likely be fine with 32GB or maybe 48GB—especially since 64GB can be overkill. You might want to invest in faster RAM instead, like 6000 MT/s CL30, which is a good balance of price and performance.

That's a good point! Spending that extra cash on a better graphics card or game might give you more bang for your buck.
