Hey everyone! I've been having some issues with my phone not connecting to WiFi or 5G when I'm at home, even though I haven't changed any settings. I suspect my mom might be involved since she has a history of controlling behavior, especially due to her mental health issues. I'm under her data plan, so I'm wondering if she has the ability to turn off my internet access. Are there any apps or features that could allow her to do this? Also, once I move out for college next year, how can I prevent her from controlling my internet access? Thanks for any insights!

Depending on your provider, there are often apps that let account holders manage internet access for devices. So yeah, it's possible for her to turn off your connection if it's under her control.
In some places, like Australia, telecom companies have apps with features that let parents cut off internet access, especially to corral kids at dinner time. So, yes, it’s definitely doable!
1. She could easily do this if the account is in her name for both WiFi and mobile data. 2. Have you thought about just asking her directly? It might be related to something specific like her expecting you to do homework or chores. 3. Getting your own phone plan could really help you gain some independence and control over your data.

That's a good idea! I notice it drops out randomly during the day, but I'll definitely ask her when I can. Getting my own plan is on my list for when I move out.
