Hey everyone! This is my first time posting here and I'm using my phone. So, here's the situation: I started getting calls from unknown numbers every 15 minutes or so since this morning. When I answer, there's actually a person on the other end, but they say that I was the one who called them. It's really confusing and a bit alarming. Someone I spoke to mentioned that my number might be compromised. I haven't answered any calls since then.
I'm curious about what being compromised means in this context and how I can fix this issue. I'm just overwhelmed with these calls and have no idea how to stop them. Also, how could this have happened in the first place? Any advice would be super helpful. If there's a better place to post this, please let me know!

You should be fine! Scammers love to spoof numbers and switch them up to make it seem like local calls. It can be a total nuisance, but it should resolve itself soon. Also, check if your dialer app has a feature to block unknown callers—that might help!
A while ago, I was getting bombard with random calls too, but they included OTP messages from various websites. I ignored all the calls and just put my phone on silent until it stopped. Luckily, it never happened again, so you might want to try ignoring them for a bit!
To be safe, you might want to back up your photos and consider doing a factory reset. That could give you peace of mind. But only if you're able to back up your stuff first!

It sounds like someone is spoofing your number. Scammers can make their calls appear to be coming from any number, including yours. It's not anything you've done wrong; it’s just bad luck. Don't worry, you're not compromised! Just some annoying calls for now. They should stop in a few days or a few weeks. Hang in there!
Honestly this is really reassuring. It kinda freaked me out at first but so long as it’s just some annoying calls for the next little while I can deal with it. Thanks so much 🙂

I can put up with the calls for a bit so long as there’s no risk to my personal data or anything.
