Is My Power Supply Enough for a PC Upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC setup, which I've had since 2019. Currently, I have a GIGABYTE B450m Gaming-br motherboard, 8 GB of HyperX Fury RAM at 2666 MHz, a Ryzen 3 3200G processor, a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD, and a Corsair CX450 power supply. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5500 and an RX 6600 graphics card. My question is whether my current power supply can handle this upgrade or if I should also look into getting a new one.

Yes, your PSU is sufficient for that CPU and GPU combo. However, I highly recommend adding another 8 GB of RAM and getting an SSD. This will significantly boost your loading times and overall system performance. An SSD will really help with OS and game loading speeds!

I believe my motherboard supports NVMe, so would a 512 GB SSD work for my OS and games? The most demanding game I plan to play is RDR2.

Your power supply should be able to handle the Ryzen 5 5500 and the RX 6600 just fine!

Oh great, that's a relief!

I suggest looking for a used Ryzen 5 5600, which would give you a nice performance bump. Pairing that with an extra 8 GB of RAM and enabling XMP for speed would be great. Your PSU should cover it, as the RX 6600 takes around 130W and the Ryzen 5 about 65W max. It should also be decent for 1440p gaming! Just remember to enable PBO and set it to -15 all core and +200 MHz boost for better performance!

I'm looking to game in Full HD on high settings, not necessarily aiming for 2K, but if I can get a 5600 at a good price, I'll go for it. Thanks for the tips! I'll remember to enable XMP and PBO!
