I'm making the jump from Intel to a 9800X3D processor and I'm wondering about my cooling options. I currently have a Dark Rock Pro 4, which I believe is compatible with the AM5 socket despite it only being rated for AM4. The be quiet website suggests it should work without issues. However, I've noticed that no one recommends this cooler anymore. Will the Dark Rock Pro 4 be sufficient for the 9800X3D, or should I consider switching to something like the Peerless Assassin or a Noctua cooler? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Your current cooler should do just fine!
The Dark Rock Pro is definitely capable, but keep in mind that the fans it comes with aren’t the best for heavy use. If you really want the best cooling performance, the Peerless Assassin would outperform it.
Guess I can just try it if it’s fine. Shrug.
You're good to go with the Dark Rock Pro 4! Any decent dual air cooler should keep that 9800X3D nice and cool.
Thank you!! Going to use it and save some $$
The reason people aren't hyping this cooler anymore is probably that it's getting older, but honestly, it should still perform well with the 9800X3D. It's one of the coolest CPUs I've had since the 2700K or my delidded 7700K with liquid metal.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn’t see the current one (Dark Rock Pro 5?) getting much love either. It sounds like the Peerless Assassin is a great deal and popular now. But I’ll stick with my Dark Rock Pro 4 to save $40 since it seems adequate. Cheers.
Just a heads up: if you don't have the AM5 mounting brackets, you might need to order them from be quiet. But if you still have the original parts, you should be good to go!
I still have everything. Thanks!

Awesome. Thank you.
