I'm considering the RX 6600 for some light gaming on weekends, mainly older titles from about 5 to 7 years ago, like flight simulators. My primary work involves video editing and web design, and I'm using an i5 14600k system. I plan to keep the integrated GPU on for quick sync, so I'm not sure if I need an Nvidia card instead. Would the RX 6600 perform well for my needs?

Honestly, I was impressed with how well it performed at 1440p for the games I tried. But flight sims and having 8GB of VRAM can be tricky, depending on how well those titles are optimized. Settings adjustments and upscaling might be necessary. Ultimately, you’ll have to test it out on your own setup to see if it meets your expectations!
It really depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to pay. A B580 could cost around $250, but I've seen used 6700XT or 2080 Ti going for $200-240, which might give you better performance. That said, used RX 6600 cards can be found for about $130-150, which could be a steal if you can get one at that price.
I've spotted some 6600s on the marketplace for around $150.
If you're aiming to play newer AAA games, you might need to lower the settings to medium or low with FSR. However, for your case with older games, the RX 6600 should do just fine. I personally use a 6600XT with a 1440p monitor, and while it doesn’t push crazy FPS on the latest games, it handles older titles decently.
I'm mainly interested in those older games and care less about max settings, just want solid 60fps at 1440p.
Not sure if you'll hit 1440p smoothly with Alan Wake 2, even at the lowest settings.
For 60 FPS, definitely yes. Anything beyond that, you might struggle a bit.
It's decent for casual 1080p gaming, but flight simulators are a different story and demand more.

Is the B580 really a solid choice?
