I'm considering pairing a Ryzen 9 5900X with an RTX 3060 12GB for my new build. Will this combination work well together, or should I be worried about bottlenecking? Also, is the Ryzen 9 5900X a solid choice for gaming?

If you're just focused on gaming, the 5900X might be overkill, especially with the RTX 3060. You could save some money and stick with a slightly lower model. But if you have plans beyond gaming, it's a powerhouse for sure!
The Ryzen 9 5900X is a beast for gaming, but unless you really need that extra power for things like streaming or big workloads, a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5800X would still give you great performance for just gaming. If you're building a new system, you might also want to check out the newer AM5 platform for future upgrades.
