Is There Employee Monitoring Software That Only Activates When the Contractor Starts It?

I'm exploring employee monitoring software options for a client who needs it for a single contractor working on their personal computer. The client is looking for a way where the contractor can manually turn on the monitoring, perhaps similar to starting a billing timer, and then turn it off when they're done. Are there any software solutions out there, like ActivTrack, Time Champ, or Hubstaff, that offer a feature like this? Also, it's important that the software is simple to use, has low or no contract commitments, and offers reasonable monthly fees. Ideally, the data should be cloud-hosted as well. Any recommendations or experiences with this kind of software?

You might want to look into options like Hubstaff or Time Doctor, which allow users to manually start and stop tracking. That way, the contractor has control over when the monitoring is active. Just make sure they set it up right to respect their privacy, especially since it's their personal computer.

Yeah, Hubstaff has a feature for manual activation that fits perfectly with what you need!

Honestly, I think it's a bad idea to install anything on a contractor's personal machine. There are a lot of legal implications and liabilities to consider. If the contractor needs to track their time, maybe suggest they use a different method that doesn't involve invasive monitoring.

I totally agree! They should either find another contractor or provide a company computer to avoid all this mess.

You should definitely seek out a software that only logs during defined time periods. Options like Clockify offer features where you can track time manually without constant monitoring. This way, it keeps things professional without crossing personal boundaries.

Yes! Besides Clockify, I've used Monitask, which also has manual start/stop options. It sounds perfect for your situation.

If you're considering cloud options, maybe look into Azure or Amazon Workspace. The contractor can log in and do their work without any direct monitoring on their personal device. This way, you maintain a barrier between personal and professional operations.
