I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 3700x with a B550 motherboard and a 3080 GPU, plus 64 GB of RAM. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, my system performance has taken a hit, especially in games where I'm often using two monitors. I'm debating whether I should completely upgrade my setup, excluding the GPU, or just stick with the AM4 platform and grab a different CPU. I considered the AM4 x3d CPUs, but they're discontinued, and the current market prices are crazy due to AI hype. What do you think?

An overpriced AM4 CPU isn't worth it compared to the cost of DDR5 RAM you’d need for AM5. The upgrade to AM5 will hit your wallet hard!
If you haven’t done it yet, try a fresh Windows 11 install first. That can help with performance issues.
If you really need 64 GB of RAM, you might want to stick with AM4 and opt for a 5700x3d or 5800x3d. Even a 5800xt or 5900x can significantly boost your performance. But if you're okay with 32 GB, then definitely consider AM5!
Before investing in new hardware, check your software first. Sometimes a little clean-up in Windows can make a big difference. If you do decide to upgrade, the 5700x is a solid option. It matches the power draw of your 3700x, so you won’t need a new cooler, just some thermal paste. The x3d chips are sold out everywhere right now, so it might not be worth it to chase those.
You might want to consider upgrading to a 5800x or 5800xt instead of going for a whole new build. It'll give you a nice boost without breaking the bank.

Totally agree! A clean install of Windows 11 might really help too.
