Is Upgrading to an RTX 5060 Ti and a New CPU on AM4 Worth It?

I'm at a crossroads with my PC setup currently using an AM4 platform. I've got an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and an RTX 2070 Super. I'm considering an upgrade to an RTX 5060 Ti and potentially a new CPU while sticking with AM4. Initially, I thought about building a whole new PC, but with the high costs of AM5 parts, I'm looking for a way to extend the life of my current setup. Since the newer 3D CPUs like the 5800X3D and 5700X3D are very hard to find, I'm unsure what CPU upgrade options are available on AM4 and whether they are worth it. Should I go for the RTX 5060 Ti? What CPU would you suggest for AM4, or should I just switch to AM5 altogether?

I’d suggest the Ryzen 7 5800XT for your upgrade. Although you missed the chance for a $128 5800X a while back, the 5800XT still offers decent value and would pair well with the 5060 Ti.

I recently grabbed a 5700X for around 130 euros, including tax. It’s a great combo with my cooler and a 9070XT.

I think the 5600 and the 5060 Ti would be good choices. If you're checking alternatives, the 5600XT is about $155 right now—it's a bit cheaper but has no stock cooler. The 5800XT is around $212, and it’s one of the best for AM4 gaming. Just keep an eye on pricing, as the 5900X and 5900XT can cost significantly more with only slight performance improvements.

Upgrading to the RTX 5060 Ti is definitely worth it! You still have solid upgrade options on the AM4 platform. Even with the x3D CPUs being pricier than usual, you could consider going for something like the 5600X, 5700X, or the 5800X, which would work well with the new GPU.
